Description

Prooftint can be used neat to achieve deep, rich colour or diluted with Prooftint Colour Reducer or Feast Watson Timber Primer to achieve lighter shades. Prooftint colours can be mixed together to achieve an exact colour match for your timber. Such versatility makes it ideal for colour matching to existing colour schemes and repairing scratches and damage to stained timber.

Prooftint can also be added to Feast Watson Clear Varnish create one-step colour and protection, or added to Feast Watson Liming White (oil based) to produce a range of pastel shades.

Prooftint is available in a range of popular colours including Black Japan, Brown Japan, Old Baltic, Walnut and Elm.

Note: Do NOT add Prooftint directly to Floorproof Pro, Floorclear or Mastertouch Wipe-On Poly.

Can Prooftint be mixed into polyurethane?

Yes, Feast Watson Prooftint wood stain is a dye-based stain that you can add directly to water-based or oil-based clear coats. This lets you create a handy “one-step” stain and varnish. Saves you a bit of time and effort!

How do I remove a Prooftint stain if I make a mistake?

Because it’s a concentrated dye, it can be a bit tricky to remove once it’s soaked in. We always recommend testing your dilution on an offcut first. This way, you can make sure the colour density is spot-on before you go for the main job.

Is Prooftint suitable for exterior use?

Prooftint is designed for interior timber, so it’s best kept indoors. For outdoor decks, we’d suggest using products like Intergrain or Cutek, as they offer much better UV protection against our harsh sun.
